If you are on visitor visa max single stay duration should not increase beyond 6 months or date written otherwise on visitor record. If you didn't complete 6 months just call the airline to get the ticket change.

How long have you been allowed to stay? Did the officer at the POE handwrite a date below the entry stamp? Or no stamp at all?

No stamp = You are allowed to stay for up to six months = You can change your return flights

It will be a different situation if the officer at the POE allowed you to stay for only two weeks
