How soon can a person return to Canada as a vistor? Let say you visit six months ago and return to your country of residence after the six months when can you buy another ticket and come back to visit your family in Canada?

There is no black and white rule. It's up to the immigration officer if you are allowed into Canada and for how long. Ideally you should be spending more time outside of Canada than inside of Canada. Otherwise immigration may become concerned that you are attempting to live in Canada without authorization.
