Visitor visa with Outland app. How can we have spouse stay?

A family member has her spouse here on a visitor visa. He currently has an Outland app in progress. Is it possible for him to stay somehow while in process?

Absolutely! Just have her spouse apply to extend their visitor status just before it expires. If it is received by IRCC before the current status expires, he will be covered under something called `Maintained Status' while his application is being processed.
