My sister who is married with three kids and pregnant was granted visitor visa. Can she apply to be privately sponsored by a church into the refugee program ones she arrives? Or is that something that has be done while she is Egypt ? We are just trying to find ways to have them resettle in Canada and not go back to Egypt due to religious conflicts. Or does she have to ask for refugee at port of entry ? FYI they have money to financially support themselves and family ( brother and uncle and nephews and nieces who r permanent residence )

Can they show that their lives are at risk? Depending on what religion they are from their is a high chance of gaining asylum. Your sister will have to be prepared to be separated from her husband and children for 3-5 years if everything goes well if she is the only one who has a TRV. If she has a group of 5 members on Canada who are willing to get together and use their own money to sponsor this large family that is also an options. There are specific requirements and the money must be held in an account untouched until the family arrives and then the funds used for their expenses during the first year. This will of course take a few years to process as well.

Her whole family have been given visitor visa . So I was thinking that they could say we can’t return to Egypt at port of entry and apply to be privately sponsored into the refugee program . Is that not possible ?

They would have to make a refugee claim after arriving in Canada, either at the port of entry or 'inland' at an IRCC office (most but not all of them accept applications). If you do an inland application, don't wait too long as that could affect the credibility of your application, and make sure you have documentary evidence of persecution. The family can not be privately sponsored if they are already in Canada (see link below--"who can not be sponsored"). They also can't be sponsored if they are still in Egypt, as they must be outside the country of their nationality.

Great that answers to my questions !:) now what kind of documentary evidence would that have to bring ? I mean Egypt is already known for persecution of Christians through church bombing ,deferential treatments to Christians etc. and they have the means to support themselves ( proof of funds will be present)

They should really be consulting with an immigration lawyer before coming to Canada. If they are refused asylum it will have longterm consequences for their family forever. They will need to show how they have been personally effected by persecution because it does sound like they are doing well if they have the funds to support their family and were all approved for TRVs.

Can they also say that they have money to support themselves under the refugee claim at port of entry ?

Whether they say they have money or not has no bearing on actually making a refugee claim.

They have to show how their lives are currently at risk in Egypt. That is the only thing that matters.

They have to provide proof that they are PERSONALLY affected and not that some churches had been bombed and some Christians had been prosecuted in Egypt.
