Hi everyone,

I’m on a work permit in Canada and want to apply for a visitor visa for my father, since his previous one expired.

Some context:

Last time I applied (for my convocation), he visited Canada for a few days and then returned.

He has a business in South Africa and is a permanent resident there, but his nationality is from lets say Country A.

Here’s the challenge:

Processing time in South Africa: ~600 days

Processing time in Country A: ~50 days

My father is currently in Country A and often visits there.

My question:

Can I apply for his visitor visa from Country A instead of South Africa to benefit from the shorter processing time? Would this be considered misrepresentation?

I’m really looking for guidance on the safest and most practical way to handle this, especially from people who’ve dealt with IRCC visitor visas. Any advice or personal experiences would be super helpful!
