Visitor visa for spouse before spousal sponsorship?

Has anyone applied for a visitor visa for spouse and got it approved? Since spouse sponsorship takes more than a year to process, I was wondering if I should try visitor visa for my spouse before sponsoring her for PR? I would really like my spouse to visit me for a few weeks. Thanks

You can certainly try. Chances of refusal are on the high side but by all means give it a shot. TRV processing times are extremely long in some countries right now so consider submitting both the TRV and spousal sponsorship application at the same time.

Some TRV takes at least a month to process now, that’s insane.

A month is pretty fast right now. Many countries have processing times of 6+ months at this time for TRVs.
