Hi All,

I have recently got the PR and will be moving to ON in July 2018, I want my mother to accompany me. What are chances of getting a visitor visa for her?

Thanks!

The best option is for you to travel alone and establish yourself in Canada - and then for your mother to apply for a visitor visa several months after you have arrived in Canada. If she applies for the visa now, IRCC may have concerns she has intentions to remain in Canada long term. This is especially true if she has no or very limited previous travel to countries requiring visas such as the US or UK.

Thank you for the reply. One more question, what if she applies individually for tourism purpose. She has enough funds with her.

Same answer. She should wait until you've been in Canada a few months.

When she applies after several months, she would be applying for a 'Family visit'. Applying as a 'Tourist' would seem rather unusual/not correct

She should apply for a 2-3 week visit as a tourist. She can certainly say she will be visiting family.
