Hi guys,

My sister is in Canada on PR basis and we want to lodge a visitor visa application for our mother. I have a confusion about the requirement of funds - how much funds should be there in my mother’s bank?
Presently, she has around 4 lac rupees.

2nd question - If I need to maintain more funds, then will the fresh deposit work?

How long is she visiting? Her own funds should be enough to pay airfare and afford a visit. #2 what do you mean you need to maintain more funds? Your mother needs to maintain the funds.

She intends to visit there from 1st March to 2nd June.
And, I will be maintaining funds in her bank account since she is a housewife. So I asked if I need to deposit more funds in her account then how much it should be more. She has 6500 CAD in her saving account along with some gold jewellery of 3K CAD.

That is too long of visit. She needs to submit a short visit of 2-3 weeks as 6500CDN would just cover airfare. Gold is not liquid funds and if you deposit funds into her account it is a red flag. She will have to tell where she got the money from as it is not money she earned.

A big change in funds would be a red flag and indicate that someone has given her money and there is no way to guarantee that it isn’t temporary and they will transfer it back. Agree that is a long trip especially given her funds. Has she travelled abroad before especially to places like UK, US, Australia? How long has your sister lived in Canada? Been a PR? You seem to have applied for EE so that would be another tie to Canada. Does she have other children who will remain in India?

My sister has already got the invitation letter signed from a lawyer. Can we alter the span of visit on the letter?

Yes, my mother has two children and a husband back home. And, my sister is staying in Canada since 2019 as a PR.

My mother has never been to any other country.

There is no need to have a lawyer sign an invitation letter so you unfortunately wasted your money. You should just write another invitation letter otherwise I don’t know how you would alter a hard copy.
