visitor visa extension for parents

Hello,
I am a canadian citizen and I want my parents to visit me in September but they have multiple entry visa till December 2020. My question is
If they enter canada in September are they allowed to stay for 6 months eventhough their visa expires in December or they need to return the home country before there visa expires.

The TRV is a travel document. It permits travel to Canada to make an application to enter, at the Port of Entry. Most foreign nationals are automatic given permission to stay for six months. That is not dependent on the document that allowed the person to get on the airplane to travel to Canada.
