Visitor Visa Extension APPROVED - but have 2 questions

Hi Everyone,

My visitor visa extension was approved yesterday, YAY! I am pregnant so we really needed this in order to allow for me to remain in Canada and give birth in March near my husband. I also needed the visitor extension to extend my AHS coverage, so this is REALLY awesome news.

I have two questions...

#1- my online status changed to "approved" and in the help section is says they will send me a letter with instructions on how to obtain the visa to my "account" Does this mean they will email me or send a physical letter to my address? There is a correspondence section online where they have sent me messages before, but they have no sent me anything yet so I am curious about the delay between the change in my application status and instructions.

#2- I am American, and I have heard that regardless of having a single or multiple entry visa you can come and go across the border as long as it is in the time frame you have been approved for. Is this true? I want to go home in November for a week, but I want to make sure that this visa is enough to let me back in.

1. The flow is normally:

- Status in MyCIC says approved
- Shortly after that (a day or 2 in my experience) a message is sent to your MyCIC account with a PDF attachment saying it has been approved and is valid until a certain date
- 1-2 weeks after that you receive the visitor record in the mail

2. Yes apparently visitor records can be used to exit/enter until the expiry date has passed but I have never done this (British citizen applying outland, waiting for PR via spousal sponsorship).

Are we talking about visitor extension or visitor record...because the OP hasn't mentioned anything about a VR?

Since American's are visa-exempt, the OP will simply be assessed by the CBSA officer, when she seeks to re-enter Canada. Her current visitor status will leave with her, when she exits Canada.

To me it is clear that the OP applied online to extend their stay in Canada as a visitor, in which case the OP will receive a visitor record document in 1-2 weeks.

I was sent a correspondence through the MyCIC account today, like you said.

It said I was given a Permit-VR valid until November 23, 2017 as a temporary resident

so now i have a million more questions...

is this a multiple entry visa?

can i work with a temporary resident visa?

I only requested an addition 6 months, so this is wonderful (assuming my normal PR is not approved before Nov 2017 - lets hope that is not the case!)

Read this recent thread. In that thread the OP says they are allowed to enter/exit as much as they like, and just have to show that document.

You cannot work. It will say so when you get your visitor record in a couple of weeks time.

Hi guys, I have applied for Visitor Extension on 29th March, And it got approved on 19th Apr, But from then it stuck and they havent send me the hard copy of my application. I contacted CIC customer support and they are telling, "As it is approved we cant say the reason of stuck of application". Have anyone faced this situation and whom we need to contact to speed up the process.

I contacted them multiple times using webform and at last after 2 months they sent the visitor record.
