Hi all,

I would like someone who has either gone through similar situation or some suggestion to my concerns.

I sponsored my parents in late 2010 and last year my parents came on a visitor visa and I extended that to one year valid till August 2014.
In between, my sister is diagnosed with cancer and now hospitalized, her situation is getting worse but we don't know any time line and I'm wondering if this can be used to extend my parents stay 2nd time?

Another question is if I can write a letter (with doctor's supporting letter) to case processing center in Mississauga where my parents sponsorship application is (still at 1st stage of the process) and request for any sort of fast processing? Would they consider these kind of situation like humanitarian?

If that doesn't work can I show my sister's situation and apply for super visa, if I couldn't extend their visitor's visa for the 2nd time?
The only thing I hate with super visa is the medical insurance especially seniors with preconditions.

What are my options?

Thanks,
Bala

I assume you mean you sister is already in Canada as a PR or Citizen? then yes you can definitely write this reason so extend

You can try but this wouldn't help, they would infact recommend visitor visa extension - process has it's own timeline and no connection with humanitarian/compassionate especially when she has you or other probable family members to take care of her

If that doesn't work can I show my sister's situation and apply for super visa, if I couldn't extend their visitor's visa for the 2nd time?

Extension, you can request 1 year, even 2 year - you can try super visa too ( there are many insurance companies which will insure and basically have a condition that the sickness related to that pre-condition wouldn't be insured

Sorry to hear about your sis, above answers are with practical experience

Thanks user828.

My sister is Canadian citizen. Thanks for the answers; it helps to make my decision, it's always hard to decide oneself.

I've one more question and hope you could answer it...
Say I 2nd time extended my parents visitor visa and during their stay in Canada, I got documents to send from CPC-Mississauga for the sponsorship, ideally I think it would be better to continue to the processing within Canada or Buffalo since my parents are not back home. In this case, what is the procedure? Once I received the documents I let CPC that I want to transfer the files in an office within Canada or I do that before even receiving the documents, can you let me know how it should be done?

Regarding super visa, last year I checked some insurance companies and these insurances are useless for pre-existing conditions, only useful I hope if someone ends up hospitalize and that cost might be covered. Again I'm not sure if the insured is hospitalized because of pre-existing medical condition like blood pressure and then stroke or something.
In my case, both my parents over 70, the cost is like over 6-7k for both it's a lot of money. If the insurance cover all the medicine that they use for pre-existing conditions then it's worth it but they don't that's why super visa is not my 1st choice.
