Hi everyone,

I am a Canadian Citizen and my girlfriend is Indian living in Mumbai. She is currently waiting on her PR under the Express Entry program she started in October of 2018. She has been invited in the pool and submitted as of May 4th, 2019. It's been 7.5 months with no update other than "We are reviewing your eligibility requirements". Her application is currently in New Delhi.

As all of you know the waiting process can be long and difficult. We have been together for over a year and are planning to see each other in Thailand in a few weeks but are also looking into her applying for a visitor visa to explore Canada and see each other for a few months while she waits for her EE application to finish processing.

Based on our situation it is no secret that she wants to live and stay in Canada and that we want to be together. Many of us are in this exact same situation. My question is what are our chances of getting a visitor visa approved? Her mom and family and friends are all in India, her job is there, she has a clean travel history with visits across Europe, Thailand and Vietnam but no kids or assets. I am hoping that because she is under the Express Entry program and not Spousal Sponsorship that the immigration officers will feel her desire to explore Canada while she waits for her application.

Summary of Questions:
Could she quit her job after approval of visitor visa? Would this affect her at immigration if she showed up with an approved visitor visa but no longer has employment back home? We are just looking into if she can explore Canada and be together for a few months while we wait. She would return back to India before the visitor visa expires and when her EE has finished processing and wouldn't do anything to compromise her PR.

Any advice or wording on this would be appreciated! I wish you all the best wherever you are in your journey in life and with you or your spouse's visa.

If she's applying for PR it will be very hard for her to get a tourist visa as they will know her intention is not genuine tourism.

Yea I see what you're saying and what most would think right away but why can't she or anyone say it is genuine tourism along with wanting to see me? She of course wants to visit me but also wants to genuinely explore Canada for her own interest and to see what it's like to live here. Why can't the two co-exist without it seeming otherwise? After all she did start her PR Express Entry before we even met which solidifies genuine interest in Canada aside from me in the equation. Fate would have it that we met while traveling. Also it is possible provided the correct documentation as per link below. Any more comments or advice would be appreciated. :)

Their concern would be that she will wait out her PR application in Canada.
Gotcha. While that would be nice the intention would be to visit for 2-3 months max and then return to India. How can we convince them that this is the case? Return flight ticket? Family or friend obligations back home?

Obligations back home. Flight tickets can be cancelled. But be aware this is still a relatively slim chance.

Thanks for the replies. Just exploring options. We will maybe try for the visitor visa but wait it out for her application regardless and I already have a 1 year multiple entry visa for India so perhaps I visit more. :)
