Visitor Visa application for parents

My parents are planning to visit Canada thus summer. Should they apply for a visa where I send the invitation letter or should they just apply for tourism purposes all by themselves (i.e. no invitation from son)? Which is a better option?

I'm a Permanent Resident.

If your parents have strong ties to your country to prove they will return back and have solid financial background they can get visitor visa , but considering you being resident and they being your parents , it make sense that you invite them providing your financial/job status in canada . I will go personally with latter option for sure.
