My son-in-law is moving from Australia (on a visitor visa) with my Canadian born daughter. He needs to get a medical exam for his sponsorship/ PR status application. Can he get it done here in Canada or does he have to have it done prior to leaving Australia. He will be applying for his PR application within Canada, not outside Canada.

I tried calling CIC and you cannot reach anyone anymore. I tried pressing "0" at the end but nothing.

he can absolutely get it done in canada, and generally it's cheaper too. as long as he uses an approved panel physician found on the CIC website he can get it done anywhere.

ps.. you'll probably have better/faster luck asking most questions here instead of trying to call cic.

He can have his medical done anywhere in the world, so long as it's done via a board panel physician. CIC has the list of these for each country. I highly suggest your daughter and SIL file an outland application even though he will be here in Canada. It will be far less time to process than it would be to do inland. Yes, he can do an outland application even if he is staying here in Canada. Word of caution: Do NOT tell CBSA he is 'moving' here. He is only visiting ....

Good luck.
