Just wondering how this all works...
If my sponsorship application to sponsor my wife gets approved can we she come visit canada and send off the PR application and wait until that gets processed and approved? Or does she need to wait until the PR gets approved and then come over to canada? What happens at the border in regards to the first part of my question, what does she need to say?

Thanks

There are lots of threads on this - just do a quick search. Short answer is that yes she can apply to visit, but it may or may not be approved. Good luck!

Whether or not she can come to Canada after a PR ap is in process all depends on where she's from. If she's visa-exempt and you enter with her to verify the relationship and that you are sponsoring her, she'd likely be given status to stay while the application processes. If she's non-visa-exempt, she has to apply on her own for a visit visa and the fact that she cannot prove (by virtue of having applied for permanent status) that she intends to stay only temporarily will keep her from being approved for a visit visa.

If she's non-visa-exempt and applies for a visit visa before you submit the PR application, it's possible it will be approved - but there is still the complication of having a partner in Canada that makes it difficult for her to prove sufficient ties to home to convince them she'll go back. If she gets in, though, you would want to apply for her PR via the inland process and include an extension application WITH the inland PR ap to protect her temporary status. This requires that the inland PR ap and extension ap are received by CPC-Vegreville BEFORE her original visit visa expires.

Once PR is approved - if you apply outland while she's still in her home country - she can come to Canada and "land" as a permanent resident.

My wife is an American citizen. I'm born canadian and we got married in June.
What i would like and thinking if it's a possibility is submit my sponsorship papers and PR application, wait for the sponsorship approval and once approved then have her come to canada 3 or 4 months after and we wait for the PR to be approved while in canada. Is this something that people have done before?

The most important part for a US Citizen to have in order to visit Canada is proof that they will return to the US. A lease, a car title, a letter from a job stating they are on temporary leave and their position is still open for them when they return. ... etc. Then after that, its all in the hands of the customs officer as to whether they will allow her or not.

Yes, some people have done it. Some people have also been refused entry.

There's no clear-cut answer here, unfortunately.
