Hello. I am a Canadian citizen and I'm currently living in Canada and my girlfriend is a Belgium citizen currently living in Belgium. We are planning to get married in Belgium and do the legal process there, which I believe will be recognized and legal here in Canada. After marriage, does my wife need to apply for a visitors visa in Belgium or can it be done at the border in Canada? Does she need to apply for a visitors visa even if we are married? Or is it already a given via her passport? What is the amount of time you can stay on a visitors visa? How long does it take to process a visitors visa? To process an extension on a visitors visa?

So as your wife is a Belgium citizen she should hold a visa exempt passport and needs no specific visitor visa to enter Canada. She will however need to apply for an ETA to fly to Canada.

Marrying a Canadian citizen does not of course give her any rights to live in Canada you would need to sponsor her for PR, so until such time that has been processed she can only enter as a visitor usually 6 months at a time on entry to the country.
