Hi,
I just wanted to double check to see if my situation makes sense since I'm confused by the CIC site and the immigration officers at the Canadian border that I've spoken with.
My husband is British and we've been in Canada since July 2013. His status here is a visitor and his visitor permit (which the officer said she was giving us when entering Canada after a vacation from the States in order to make our PR application easier... British citizens don't usually need visitor visas) expires June 2014. We submitted our sponsor/PR application in January 2014 and received notice that processing began on February 3rd.
Now I've two questions. Until a decision is made, he is on implied status and may remain in Canada until that decision; is this correct? Also, we are hoping to go to his cousin's wedding in England in July. He is allowed to leave Canada for a short vacation; is this correct?
Any and all assistance is appreciated, as I feel I cannot get a straight answer for our particular situation frok the immigration website. Thank you!
