In a couple weeks it'll be time for me to extend my visitor status, but I have a few questions.
1) I'm going to have my husband write a letter of support for me. What should this say? Does anyone have examples of a basic format they used?
2) The "Coming Into Canada" part asks about my "original" entry into Canada. Last May I came here to visit my husband (then boyfriend). Does this count as a "Family Visit" even though we weren't married yet? Or would it fit under tourism or other? Should I select other and say I was visiting my boyfriend?
3) Question 2 under Background Information asks if I have previously applied to enter or remain in Canada. I would select yes and mention my PR application here, right?
4) When it comes to available funds, my husband and I don't really have a lot of money in the bank at one time (No more than 2k usually), but he has a stable job that's obviously capable of supporting both of us (I've been here since November with no issues). Should we include a letter of employment, pay stubs, bank statements, and his Notice of Assessment to show that he has a stable income? I'm a little worried that the extension will be denied due to lack of funds, since I know that CBSA can be strict when it comes to this. Do you think this will be an issue?
5) By the time I apply to extend my visitor status, I likely won't have AOR yet, so I won't have a UCI that they can look up my PR application with. Should I include proof of paid fees as proof that we've submitted a PR application?
6) I know the CIC recommends to apply for a visitor extension 30 days prior to your status expiring, but I've heard that as long as the CIC receives your application before the date it expires that it's alright. I just wanted to double check that this is true. Does this mean that they have to actually give some sort of AOR for the extension by the time your status expires, or that they just have to receive it by mail?
