Hi,

My wife who is working in an Indian IT company was asked to travel to Cananda by ICT. She will be taking our 1 year old daughter also. Since I'm not in position to travel she is planning to take her mother along with her. Her company will provide Visa and tickets for my wife and baby and we have to take care of her mother's visa and ticket.

Her mother is also working but will be taking leave without pay during her stay with my wife. She will be able to show her bank statements and savings she has and will only stay for less than a year.By that time I will reach Canada.

So ,

Can we apply for her mother's visiting visa separately through cic website ?

Currently my wife only has some approval mails from her company. Will those / some reference letters from company is enough to apply for the same right now?

How long cic normally take to process visiting visa , as she might have to travel after 2 months?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

First, it would be unrealistic to expect IRCC to grant a TRV for your mom-in-law to take care of your daughter while your wife is working.

Second, as a visitor, your mom-in-law is expected to visit for short stays and not for one year. That said, how long she will actually be allowed to stay will depend on the officer at the Port of Entry (assuming she is granted a TRV).

Third, your mom-in-law must demonstrate she has strong ties to return to India. Taking a sabbatical from her employment would certainly work against a TRV approval

Cheers

I would start investigating daycares and putting your name on waiting lists. It can be quite difficult to secure a spot. It seems unlikely that you mother will be given a TRV especially for 1 year. You will have to see but also a good idea to have another option.
