I am a Canadian citizen who is a permanent resident of the US. My wife is a US citizen. My parents and adult children both reside in Canada. My wife and I would like to visit them, arriving by car. Once we get to our destination in Canada we plan to quarantine at an airbnb for 14 days, then spend a week with my kids and then drive to visit my parents. We will probably be in Canada a total of 30 days. The new covid guidelines set out are a difficult to understand. I believe that I won't have a problem entering the country but am wondering if there is an issue for my wife to get into Canada? Appreciate any assistance.

If you are a citizen and she's accompanying you, it should be okay. She needs to demonstrate she intends to stay longer than 15 days (your plan above will do that) so you should be OK.

Great, thanks for the info, appreciate it.

Although - arriving by car may not be possible, I'm not sure. I have read conflicting information.

Hi JC60,

Did you manage to travel to Canada with your wife? I am also a Canadian citizen planning to visit family in Canada with my French wife and newborn child, and fully agree that the information on the IRCC and various government websites is often contradictory.

From what I can tell traveling to be with PRs or Canadian citizens who are immediate family AND currently in Canada (so for reunification purposes) seems to be allowed, but I’m not sure whether foreigners traveling accompanied by a Canadian citizen are allowed to enter.

Hi AJC14,

No I haven't, the plan is to drive into Canada early September but if I can't be certain that both myself and my wife are able to enter then we won't be. I have parents, kids, and grandkids all living in Canada so it seems both of us can enter but still looks to be unclear reading the information provided on the government website.

Am hoping sometime between now and then the regulations become clearer.
