Hello!

I just got a response for my application. In letter I have received they mention paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR as a reason of rejection.

What does that means?

Quick info about me:
Bosnian citizen living legally in US, married to US citizen. I still don't have my green card but I did submit my working permit/travel document issued by USCIS. I've also attached our marriage certificate. Both of those have my permanent US address.

Unfortunately it looks like they thought you wouldn't leave.

"People applying to visit, study, or work in Canada have to show that they intend to be bona fide temporary residents that will leave the country once their visa / study permit / work permit has expired. This is pursuant to s. 179(b) of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, which states that:

Issuance

179. An officer shall issue a temporary resident visa to a foreign national if, following an examination, it is established that the foreign national

(b) will leave Canada by the end of the period authorized for their stay under Division 2;

The following are examples of how IRPR s. 179 may be applied to individual applications. They are scenarios that IRCC provides visa officers for the purposes of training.
