Visa refusal appeal

Dear all,
I’m from Pakistan and wanted to ask if anyone has experience with IRCC webform or reconsideration timelines.
I received an email from IRCC about two months ago, stating that my case has been transferred to a visa officer. Since then, I haven’t received any further updates.
As I’ve already made travel bookings for mid-April 2025, I’m getting a bit concerned.
Can anyone guide me on whether I should wait longer or if it’s appropriate to email them again for a follow-up?
Any help or shared experiences would be appreciated!

So you cannot ask for reconsideration or appeal when you haven’t been refused. You can raise a webform. IRCC tells you not to make travel bookings until visa is approved.

I have raised the web form already for reconsideration and it’s been 65 days almost since I have raised the web form for reconsideration.. and I also got a response from IRCC that a visa officer has been assigned who will look into my refusal further.

Reconsideration is when your application is refused and you believe there is an error in law. There are no timelines for reconsideration (could be months) so nothing to do but wait. An officer has been assigned. Most times, it is faster to reapply and address reasons for refusal with new documentation.

Unfortunately there are no timelines for reconsideration and no way to expedite. Hopefully you hear back in time and the results are positive. If you don't hear back in time or reconsideration confirms the refusal, hopefully the ticket you purchased is fully refundable. Good luck.
