Visa Query

I am a Canadian citizen and have completed and sent off sponsorship forms for permanent residency for my American husband. We are likely to move back to Canada from the UK before receiving PR. What sort of visa do we need for my husband, and, how do we apply for it? Any one know?? He has a job with an American publication by the way which he will continue once we are in Canada.
