Proof of Funds:
10. Proof of unencumbered and readily available transferable funds in a convertible currency available for settlement in Canada (for you and family members). Provide a bank statement from the past 12 months. These funds must be available for you and your dependents, whether they are accompanying or not. The amount is as follows,
Principal applicant C$10, 601.00 and additional $3,000.00 for each dependent.

11. Original Police clearance certificates for all family members who have resided anywhere
for more than six months after the age of 18.

Careful! This may be a great summary for a given situation and a given visa office, but not transferable so anyone putting together an application, make sure you look at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled-mission.asp to get information for your visa office specifically so you don't skip important documents.

For example, if you have a family member in Canada, you must submit documentation in addition to everything listed by Olabsi. Also note that the requirements vary between different visa offices (e.g.., some require proof that your relative is currently living in Canada like utility bills, proof of employment, or tax returns while others don't ask for it upfront)

Another simple example: the number of pictures varies across visa offices - the post above mentions 8 but some require 6 (e.g., Mexico) and others 4 (e.g., Buffalo)

There's other differences as each of the visa office specific lists is different (hence the reason for the many lists!). So - just wanted to tell people that may see this to be careful as it is not the same for all situations and all visa offices.

Hi OhCanadiana,

Thank you for your update but like I said in my post earlier these are guides and subjected to updates from time to time. The VO responsibe for applicants in various jurisdictions will advice on needed documents. It is also possible that the AOR will have the requirements from the Visa Office applicable to their countries.

One can check the link applicable to applicants to the London Visa Office, as an example in the link below;

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37023.pdf

I hope this has clarify the position of this piece from my end.

Cheers

We're all just trying to help here Olabisi - no worries. I just didn't want someone to see this without full context and not bother looking at their visa office specific instructions since they do vary so much - hence the clarifying comments and caution.
