Visa office Requested for passport but I did not get it email.what do I do?

Ppl plz help. Visa office ask me to paid rRPRF about 6months ago and I did.they sent us a mail to come pick up our passport since 19th of December but we didn't not get the email neither in my Junk mail or inbox.so I email them yesterday asking about our application n I was told they already sent us an email. They want me to explain why we didn't come for our visa. WHAT DO I DO.

Explain exactly that. You didn't receive the email and didn't know that they had requested you to pick up your passport. There's not much else you can do but explain what happened!
