I just got a temporary resident VISA to Canada with multiple entries for 10 years. "Place of Issue" as it says on the VISA is "Ottawa". Itinerary I have in mind is a bit different that I start from the west and then reach Toronto (this is from where I am planning to come back to India).

My question is that since the place of issue is Ottawa, do I need to land in Ottawa first and then go from there? Or I can land in Vancouver and have that as my port of entry.

Thanks

As a holder of a multiple-entry temporary resident visa, you are allowed to enter Canada at any port of entry. The place of issue listed on your visa does not determine where you must enter Canada. You are free to enter Canada at any port of entry, regardless of the place of issue listed on your visa. In your case, you can choose to enter Canada at the port of entry of your choice, whether that is Ottawa or Vancouver.

Thak you for the clarification.
One more doubt that I have is: my sponsor (uncle; resides in Ottawa and has that address on the sponsorship). Does it matter to the immigration that I _should_ land in Ottawa first (because of the sponsor’s residence city) or not?

Thanks

No you don’t have to land in Ottawa first. You can be asked about your reason for travel to Canada, proof of your funds, etc. Even with an approved visa you can still be denied entry to Canada if there is a concern that you are trying to remain in Canada not visiting, don’t have enough funds to support your stay, etc. If you applied to visit your uncle and then changed your plans and no longer will be visiting your uncle at any point that could be misrepresentation. If you indicated on your application that you want a TRV to visit your uncle for 2 weeks in Ottawa but you are now planning on going to Vancouver to stay with your friends for 6 months then your TRV application was misleading. No guarantee that this will be an issue but in general not a great idea to misrepresent yourself to IRCC.

Got it, Thanks.
I’d rather make changes to my itinerary to land in Ottawa first than having to do the explanation to the immigration about changes in my plan.

thanks again, it is a great help.

If you have proof of onward travel to Ottawa it should be fine. I assume you will already have a plane ticket to Ottawa from Vancouver.

Exactly, only reason I was planning to land in Vancouver first was because of the availability of some relatives (they are coming to India on the dates I am planning to leave)

Then there is no need to change your plans. You are stopping in Vancouver to visit relatives and the continuing to Ottawa to visit others before returning home. There should be no issue.
