Hello everyone
I am just wondering if when u get a visa issued, how long is it issued for can it be 1 month or more just need a brief idea because hopefully soon my husband will get his visa so I wanna know how much time do we have to settle back in canada even though this process wont be for awhile yet THANKS IN ADVANCE

His visa will expire a year after his medical or when his passport expires, whichever comes first (usually the medical).

If there are matters to be settled, he can always travel to Canada, land as a PR and then return to his home country to wrap up matters once he receives his PR card (usually within 8 weeks of landing). If he goes back without the PR card (it will not be sent to an address outside of Canada), he either needs to have it couriered to him or taken to him by a trusted person, or he applies for a travel document from the Canadian embassy.

Hello charlieD10
My husbands medicals are going to expire now in august so am wondering will they issue a visa b4 august and if they dont then it will be based on his passport validating period which 3 yrs can u please clarify this thanks in advance

If processing is completed soon, then the visa will expire with his medicals in August. If they do not complete processing before August, he will be asked to do another medical, and the visa will expire a year after the date of that medical. They would not extend it to the expiration date of the passport 3 years into the future. The passport expiration date only applies if the passport is due to expire less than a year after the medical was done.

hELLO charlieD10
thanks but their is somehting I dont get like how long is the visa issued for can it be a month or a week like example lets say He my husband gets his visa at the end of july when his medicals expire at the beggining of august so wat like 2 weeks to land is this possible or lets say in june to august then that would be approx 2 months to land is is their a normal time frame for a visa or is it random for everyone
Thanks in advance

Yes, it is random according to the date of the medical. So, yes, if it is issued at the end of July, then it will expire within a couple of weeks when his medicals do. Some persons are asked to bring in a flight itinerary showing they are booked to leave the country by a certain time, especially if the visa is issued with only a short time to go before the medicals expire.

As I said before, landing is just a matter of flying to Canada and getting his PR status. He can return to wrap up his affairs once he has his PR card or immediately after landing if someone can be trusted to send or take it to him.

Thank you soo much charlieD10, it is great to have ppl like u in this forum really appreciate all the help :D
