Hi I am a UK citizen British Passport and need a ETA as soon as possible.
I applied Tuesday evening via the official site expecting to get one instantly.

I waited, then got a email Wednesday morning asking me to upload some documents.
I have uploaded all required.

Can I not go to a embassy and get the visa or do I have to go through this route, I only have 3 working days left and have already sent a email via the IRCC Webform.

Anyone can help on this forum be much appreciated.

Hmm, when my parents (who are British citizens) applied, they got it within 5 minutes. Not sure why they would need more documents. What documents did they require?

Thinking to apply again for ETA,

Wow, are you sure you used the official site to apply? This all seems very strange...including your CV?

Is the email also from the official site? Unless this is a new thing they ask for.

Yeah I used this site (you get directed from the uk site) and they were both approved right away. I guess you got selected randomly for the additional documents then.

You could try calling the CIC, but I think they are just going to say you have to wait.

Thinking to apply again for ETA,

That's very odd. Were you born in the UK? If not, how did you become a UK citizen? Do you have any past immigration history with Canada?

Typically additional information is only requested when you have some sort of flag in the system. Past criminal convictions is one reason - however that's clearly not the situation in your case since they would be asking for a completely different set of documents.

I don't think there's any phone number available that will help or help to expedite. Based on past experiences on this forum - all you can do is wait.

Hope you get the visa approved soon.
