Hello, I started to get worried about my situation... Here is the thing, my husband applied for PR trough the Canadian experience class including me as sponsored spouse, we started the application process by mid-december 2013 and our current status is "still in process", we have made the second payment about a month ago and we were asked to send our foreign police certificates. One of my questions is: how can I know if CIC has received our police certificates? will I receive an email confirmation from them?
The other thing is that my worker visa and work permit (PGWP) expire by mid-september 2014, what should I do if I am not currently working? (and not looking forward to it because I am a stay home mom of a Canadian born son of almost 2 years old) do I have to apply for a tourist visa/any other kind of visa or just wait for the answer of CIC?
I hope someone can help me out with this inquiries, thank you so much in advance any help will be very appreciated :D:D

thanks for taking the time of reading this :) :)

Some times they acknowledge through email some times not . In my case they replied in 6-7 days after sending PC

I believe your husband must have valid WP after sep 2014 also . If yes then you can apply for SOWP (if he is having min 6 month WP to expire), if he don't have WP they he can also apply for BOWP and you along with him.

Thanks a lot for your response! ;D
I guess I'll just wait a little longer and see if I get any confirmation from them...
My husband has his WP valid until august 2015 so we won't have trouble about him, I will do my research about the SOWP and hopefully get it.
But I was just wondering, will I get in trouble if the process of getting the permit takes longer than my remaining time of valid visa? how bad would it be if I just wait instead of getting the SOWP? :o

You need to maintain status in Canada. Be it visitor, worker etc. You will definitely get a OWP based on your spouse WP. Non status individuals who remain in Canada after 90 days grace period (without applying to restore status) after expiration of their status can face deportation/departure.

CIC does not usually confirm receipt of documents, that's extra work and we'd rather they spend their time processing applications : ) . That's why we recommend that you use a mail/courier service that provides delivery confirmation.

Based on your writing, I'm guessing you may be from a visa-exempt country (USA?) which means, if you have no plans to work, the easiest thing for you to do is exit and re-enter Canada (you can stay for 6 months as a visitor without a permit). But just in case the CBSA has questions, carry proof of your husband's employment (letter from employer, most recent paystub), as well as a copy of the AOR...

But also based on the progress on your file, I'm guessing you'll have the COPR very soon, before the expiry of your PGWP...
