Hi! I'm from India. I know I'm very late and very new to all this, but I applied to a canadian college (for fall term) few days back and will receive my decision by the end of July. Is there any specific deadline to apply for a study visa?
I have my finances sorted out (enough funds in my account to cover Year 1 of college) and will get my medical checkup done in July only. So I'm guessing after applying, my visa should only take 10-14 days to be approved. But a friend told me that anyone who applies after August 1 is rejected (and I might apply around August 5-7), so I was confused since there was no mention of it on the visa website.

So does anyone know anything regarding this?

Thank you :)

Aug 1st is too late. They wont necessarily reject you but you wont get visa on time.

You are expecting too much! It is not cakewalk these days. After Aug 1st, your rejection chances are high. If you are lucky, they will ask for deferral letter. 10-14 days sounds like fairytale. The best applications submitted way ahead of time get 20 days processing time if they are extremely lucky. Aug 7th application is going to hurt your chances of getting visa on time. I would recommend rather to get deferral and apply for next term if possible. Also bear in mind that just 1yr money is not sufficient, you must give provisions for 2nd yrs money (just mention ways of provision, no need to show the actual money).

After medical upfront, you have to wait 7 days.

Cic.gc.ca says to apply for visa 3 months before travel. You are lagging too far behind.
