Hi everyone,
I had booked flights was planning to get married in April 2020 but my flight got cancelled due to COVID-19, Toronto to Pakistan. Turkish airways has not issued a refund either. I plan to sponsor my spouse. Will IRCC accept a wedding over zoom or skype, Should I go ahead with nikkah over internet.
or Is it best to just wait it out until lockdowns in Canada and Pakistan are lifted

Thanks in advance

No. IRCC will not accept this marriage as valid. The individuals getting married must both be there in person for the marriage to be recognized by IRCC.

You'll need to wait for the lockdowns to be lifted.

I don't think this way can work. We were in a similar situation, and our marriage was not validated because not all members were physically present. Long story short, our wedding was also planned ahead of time, but due to the pandemic, we were not allowed to formalize it as required by law. It was extremely bad news for us because we had everything planned and prepared: my husband Gentleman's Guru smoking, my Dior dress, the location. I hope that soon we will have the opportunity to get married.

no form of ceremony where the bride and groom are not physically present with a marriage officiant is accepted by ircc

having an online / skype/ zoom/ teams/ whatapp video/ facetime nikkah is not accepted

restrictions have opened, take time off get married in your home country
