Hey guys,

I got the COPR message today and have been given a ridiculously short time to land (validity of COPR is 01/09/2018). It is simply impossible to pack up a family life in this time period and even give notice to the landlord to leave. I wonder if anyone has faced or knows of such situation. Thanks!

I was thinking of calling them to get an extension. Isn't this a good idea?

If I do soft landing, how long should I stay there to get things about my PR card sorted. Is soft landing something that I can mention in the border in the interview?

Thanks for your answer.

No you can't get extension.
You will need a Canadian address for them to send your card.
Border officers won't care if it's soft landing or not. You can mention if you want.

Do you guys have any idea why this is such a short notice? I heard they give you about a year long time to land.

My case took over one year. I did my medical in April 2017 but my new baby September 2017.

Then they already extended the validity of your medical. They could've asked you to do it again since it was April.

So this is actually a favor! I would have liked to redo it because it would have cost me much less money and hassle.
