Very Confused! Work Permit Question.....

Hi!

My husband and I would like to be in Canada to explore and visit friends for sometime. I got a job offer from a company in Canada based in Ontario. Only thing is, it's online and I am considered an independent contractor in exchange for hourly payment. I am just kind of lost...I really can't tell if my job (Online ESL Teacher) is on the skill list (apologizes,I forget the name of the list).

Best way to go about this? So far I have...

-Letter from the company

You need a work permit to be able to work in Canada - even if it's online. To get a work permit, your employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA. The LMIA process is typically a 4-6 month process that requires the employer to first advertise the job to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. Recommend you speak with your employer now to find out if they are willing to obtain an approved LMIA, otherwise this is a no go.

Are you sure the job offer isn't a scam? There are lots of scams floating around..
