Vancouver area school districts.

Please share any information about school districts in and around Vancouver metro area - the good one. Sometime back PMM did point to the Fraser report. Any first-hand information will surely help. We need to enroll our kids in grade school this fall. When the volunteer, who we met yesterday at the SUCCESS center in Vancouver, mentioned that there could be a big waiting list we were really concerned.

Please share your thoughts on how to go about enrolling in Vancouver area schools.

Hi there,

We landed in vancouver last month. got our SIN, rented a place, and took the necessary documents to the district reception center.
They registered our daughter and in one week she was already attending kindergarten in a elementary school. Very simple....

But, if you are interested in day care centres or pre and after-school programs be ready to wait a long long time. we have called all the day cares in our area and all of them told us they have 1 or 2 year waiting list. it means that you will probably have 10 to 20 families waiting before you.

Thanks Sato2. Any more pointers from Vancouver residents? We visited a few of Vancouver's suburbs over the last several weeks. Burnaby, Coquitlam, North and West Vancouver all seem real nice places to raise a family. We plan to drive from Seattle over the next several weekends to check out other places...
