Hello everyone
We applied for supervisa for my mom.she did has a valid tourist visa until 2022. The application got processed. Passport got requested. But they cancelled the old tourist visa and stamped the passport with new visa. But the new visa category is again v 1 instead of PG.No medical done. Can anyone advise what has actually happened. Now mom is here in Canada. But looks the visa is not super visa.

It's up to IRCC if they issue a super visa or just a regular visitor visa. It sounds like your mother was just issued a regular visitor visa. If she has been spending a lot of time in Canada - that may be the reason. Or perhaps she didn't demonstrate strong enough ties to her home country. You can try ordering the GCMS notes to find out the reason.

But what is the logic of giving V1 again. If she had V1 earlier. They could have rejected the application. In terms of ties in canada all cjildren are in canada. All are citizens Mom's mother and brother is in canada too

IRCC wants to see strong ties to her home country - not to Canada. If she has strong ties to Canada, this reduces the chances that a super visa will be approved and makes it more likely that IRCC will have concerns she has plans on remaining in Canada long term. If her entire family is in Canada, then she has very strong ties to Canada which makes it more difficult for her to demonstrates ties to her home country.

But i feel they should have rejected the application then. What is the logic behind cancelling the V 1 stamp with reason "cancelled without prejudice" and then stamping passport again same V1 visa. If they would have sent the rejection letter we would have appleaed back. But i guess we lost that option too . online application status was showing application approved. We never thought that they will cancel Also advice what option do we have now. My mother is in canada with single entry ticket. We applied super visa because my father passed away and she was alone back home.

You applied for a visa - so they issued one. They would only have rejected it if they didn't feel your mother qualified at all.

If your mother wishes to stay in Canada longer than her allowed visit, she must apply for an extension. Note that both a regular TRV and a super visa only allow your mother to visit Canada - not move here permanently.

But my mother already had a valid visa until 2023. That's why i feel they should have sent us a letter stating valid V1 visa is already there. Super visa is rejected. I feel confusion would not have been there.

I really can't help you any further.

That's not how IRCC processes work. If you have applied for a super visa, they can grant you a super visa, a regular visitor visa or refuse you outright if they don't believe you meet visitor visa requirements. Your mother met visitor visa requirements, just not for a super visa. So a regular TRV was granted. IRCC was following their established processes.
