Valid passport for student visa?

Is there any rule regarding the validity of my passport? My passport is valid until 26th July 2016. I just read somewhere saying "Your passport, valid for the duration of your studies plus one month."


Anyone know the rules?

They cannot issue a student visa beyond the date of your passport validity.
You can still use your current passport, but they will only issue you a visa valid till July 2016. You will have to renew both your passport and extend your SP when the time comes.

It's better for you to renew your passport now so you will get a student visa that covers the whole period of your study.

your passport must be valid for atleast 8 months from the date of issue of visa..
As Scorpio1641 mentioned, they cant issue a student visa beyond the date of your passport validity. and if they issue a study permit of less than 8 months, u MAY not have the working rights etc etc..
