VAC Processing times and IELTS

Hello,

I've scheduled my IELTS for Jan 9th in Chicago. I am an Indian citizen working in the US on a H1-B visa. Do I need to definitely take my passport for the test?

I received a passport request letter from CIC for visitor visa, so I will be sending my passport to the VAC on Dec 16th. If passport is needed for the test, is there a chance I'll get my passport in time? How long does it usually take?

If you registered with your passport for the test, you will need it on the test date

I just called the test center and they told me I can't take the test without my passport, and that there's no cancellation once the test is scheduled

So I am hoping the members here can help me out.

Seems you have to choose between the two. Or see if you can raise CSE to postpone visit visa

Yes, I thought of making a CSE but then they haven't responded even to my earlier CSE so I thought better of that idea.

Based on other members' experiences here, if my passport reaches the VAC on Dec 16, is there a good chance I will get it back by Jan 8th? How long is the usual processing time?
