Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am applying for citizenship very soon ( from Montreal), I decided to use a representative ( immigration lawyer) I met one and he said he will charge me $800 for the whole process. I feel this is a bit expensive considering that I will have to provide all info and I have them all ready . Can anyone suggest a different lawyer ( cheaper obviously) I am also open to any other opinions.
Thanks in advance

Do you feel you have a difficult situation that would require a lawyer? It’s not at all like the PR process.

In my personal opinion, having a lawyer to fill out you citizenship application is an overkill. Its not rocket science. Sure somethings might be confusing. Thats the reason most of us are here to get help. You can always post anything that confuses you on the application here.

Citizenship application is a walk in the park compared to PR..took me 2 hours to get everything organised and the form filled in. Save the 800 bucks and buy some bottles of Champagne for after the ceremony instead.

Unless you have some legal issues, using a lawyer for a citizenship app is a waste of money. As others have said, the citizenship application process in much, much, much easier than PR.

Just chiming in and adding my voice to the choir that you should only hire a lawyer if you have a legally complicated case (e.g. if you came here as a refugee and there were some complications with your status). This is nothing like the PR application. The only hard part about the citizenship application is to have the patience to wait for each step.

Only get a lawyer if you have a complicated case where your application could be potentially rejected.

If your case is straightforward (you meet all the requirements without issue), then do it yourself.
