Hi all, wishing all a Happy New Year. As I prepare my documents in hope of an ITA in the New Year, just wanted to bring something to people's attention when it comes to Reference Letters from current and/or former employees.
I think it might serve a person well to be extremely specific with respect to their roles and duties for jobs held in different currencies. My examples are as follows for my case where I have worked as a Chartered Accountant in Public practice and Industry.
Australian Expereince
Examine and analyze journal and ledger entries, bank statements, inventories, expenditures, tax returns and other accounting and financial records (all denominated in Australian dollars), documents and systems of individuals, departments within organizations, businesses or other establishments to ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures and internal controls (with respect to both International Financial Reporting Standards and Australian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Canadian Experience
Conduct field audits of businesses to ensure compliance with provisions of the Income Tax Act (as administered by Revenue Canada), Canadian Business Corporations Act or other statutory requirements (in line with the requirements under Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and International Financial Reporting Standards)
Disclosure: I'm not saying this is necessarily required but I think it could serve to better inform the VO who looks at your application. Happy to be corrected if I am wrong. I also know this may not apply to all jobs/professions.
