Hi guys,

For the form "Use of a Representative", do we need to use this for? We don't want a representative or do we need one? Can we not represent ourselves? Please help us if you know the answer.
Thank You!

You don't have use it and you don't have to have a representative.
Since you are planning not to have a representative, do not fill that form out and omit it from your application

You are welcome and good luck on your apllication.

A bit of advice we got from our consultant is that you can actually fill this form out appointing the sponsor as the representative. Reason being that once the application goes to the Outland VO, the sponsor technically does not have the right to information about it (it becomes property of the applicant). By formally appointing the sponsor as a representive, both of you can access the application info if you ever need to.

Except that means that every letter and piece of communication is sent to the sponsor, and then the sponsor has to sent it to the applicant.

Will they not e-mail the applicant as well? Or information will ONLY go to the sponsor/representative? I was thinking of filling this out (as the sponsor) because mail in Dominican Republic is not always reliable and if the VO sent an actual letter in the mail, it may get lost and not reach my husband.... If a letter is received by the representative/sponsor and that letter needs to be brought with the applicant to the visa office, is it possible to scan the letter and he prints off the scan? or does it have to be the original letter received by the sponsor and representative?

Thanks

I am going to guess it depends on the visa office, to some extent. We appointed my husband as my representative, but the visa office basically ignored that. Kingston sent me all the forms, communicated only with me right to the end of the process. Hmm.

In our case it is much faster for the VO to communicate with me than with my husband (applicant) so that would be to our advantage. Obviously if you don't want the VO communicating with the sponsor then you wouldn't fill it in. If both are fine with the sponsor being involved, then it helps because either of you can contact the VO for information if needed. Personal choice I guess
