Thanks for the clarification. It definitely makes more sense in the context of frequent crossings, I think. The only time I've had it mentioned to me at the border was when the agent asked why I hadn't moved to Canada yet during our Christmas crossing, and I answered that I knew I couldn't move to Canada until my PR application was approved. He told me I could get a visitor record, move all my stuff from the U.S., and since I was self-employed essentially might be able to "get by" with that while the application was being processed. My crossings are much more sporadic, and I'm much further from the border. I'm also usually crossing via Greyhound rather than by private vehicle, and always with return tickets. The case where this was mentioned to me, my husband and daughter and I were all traveling by car.

Thank you for that story too! Makes me feel better about always mentioning it to people. I actually moved with 100% of everything i owned while on that visitor record. Most nervous day of my life--but after some questions 10 minutes stopped at the crossing--he just let me in---didnt even look inside the uhaul. I was living 10 minutes house to house from my husband...so i really crossed a lot. (we were both in border towns). So your story is just another agent saying it was ok----i know some have had issues and not really advised.

I'll try asking for that next time I pass through. I've been going back and forth consistently for well over a year now, so they can probably tell I'm all about following the rules.

Last thing I want to is be prevented from being with my wife!!

I'm going to go ahead and not include the ATIP report for now, and I've already typed out 2 paragraphs explaining in detail the nature and frequency of our trips.

I'm going to request an ATIP asap though just to have it in case they ask!

It's kind of fun to have too...its just leaving canada--unless you can request both, not sure. but was helpful in catching dates i had missed.---and along with looking at my credit cards like Dana mentioned. I'm sure it will be fine to just include the explanation. I'm also positive, they don't want a mile long list of in and out dates, when they have access to that anyway. CIC and CBSA work together for background checks and things.

Yeah. It's definitely not something I'd be willing to gamble on being 800 miles from the border. I want the COPR in hand before I terminate my lease and pull the trigger. :D

HAHA! No doubt! 800 miles, compared to 3 miles...yeah i might not have risked it either. :) Never know if you'll get the grumpy agent.
