Hello All

My sister stayed in California for 8 months on work visa. She had a SSN no..but no fingerprint record. Please could somebody let me know, do we have to apply to State authorities or FBI..and the procedure for getting it..she is currently in Singapore..

You help is highly appreciated.

Shahi

Just go to CHC website and it explains that you need to get both State and FBI certificate. For FBI,you need to go to an authorized centre and get this done....
For most of the states in US,there is a form which you need to fill in and things follow..(I filled in for TX)

Most of the time when you are outside US,getting all of this is a little bit tough esp for FBI because there are very very few FBI accredited agencies outside US who do this all..

I would advise you to start some research asap on this as this is a critical element of background checks

cheers!

Hello IT Applicant

Thanks a lot for your reply. Well to be honest with you, i have done a lot of research but it seems to be too complicated. That is why i was wondering , if someone on this forum who has got US PCC outside while staying outside USA could guide me in simple words.

She needs an FBI finger print check. If a state PCC is required, CIC will ask for it later see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp

Shahi, I do not know what IT applicant is talking about, there is only one way to get the FBI cert and that's to follow the directions on the CIC site. PMM posted the link.

She does NOT need the California cert with the application - if CIC wants that later, they will ask for it.

LOTS of people on this site have had to get the FBI cert from outside of the USA, including myself. It's not that hard, it just takes time.

Hi Shahi - your sister needs to apply to the FBI to get a background check (not California). The instructions are available at http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/fprequest.htm. Basically, you need to get your fingerprints taken (preferably by professionals - can be police where you live, for example) and mail them in to the FBI with a signed request and payment. So, she can do it all my mail (you can send the FBI a FedEx pre-paid label and they will mail it back to you with FedEx).

Thanks PMM,jes_ON, ohcanadiana and IT applicant...

Guys now i get it thank you all.. :D
