US State police certificates

I was just wondering how many people included state certificates from every state they've lived in since turning 18? The CIC website says that this information might be requested - did most people go ahead and include it preemptivley or did everyone wait until asked?

I am just curious as I did not include mine. I am wondering how common it is for them to ask it... or if most people get through without it... or if most people send them with their original app.

There was a policy shift where they used to be required and I didn't know how often or for what criteria they would ask for them. Since I didn't want any delays, I went ahead and included them. I've moved around a bit, but got all my state certificates in much less time than that damned FBI report! Some states its just a small fee ($9 for kansas) and other's its a lot ($33 for oregon, plus they require fingerprints so that was another $25)

I did not include them, because I had 2 failed FBI fingerprints before the good one I sent, so I'd done my 2 state ones a total of 3 times (1 was $24, 1 was $20). Needless to say, they all expired and I'm not made of money (my application alone cost $87 to mail!!!) and since it wasn't required, I just didn't bother to re-do them for a 4th time. What it comes down to, is if you have money and time go for it... if not, just wait! I doubt they ask for them unless they feel you're hiding something.

we didn't do them. my partner's lived in 6 states since he was 18 that we figured we would wait and see what they might ask for, if any, rather than get them all done. They all had different requirements and I started looking into it all, and just kind of got a headache. I figure, we'll have motivation to figure it all out if we need them, and if not, it's just a lot of hassle and a lot of money (most of the states were in the $25 dollar range, not to mention the prints, and sending them registered mail and what not).

I am from Minnesota and I included mine, but I have only ever lived in Minnesota. It only cost 5.00 and I was able to go the office directly and get them the same day. I figured it was better to have them. Also I did not include the FBI one when I sent my applciation so I figured it would at least show that I had no criminal record. I did however include a letter stating that when the FBI came in I would forward it to them.

We included my hubby's for NY, IL, WI and FL, gave us something to do while we waited for the FBI checks, lol. We did fingerprint check for NY (where he currently lives), but only did name check for the other three. Was not much more money in the grand scheme of things compared to the overall cost and did not want to take any chances that they would request it and would make our process longer.

you dont need them unless they ask i sent mines in but they were expired so i am sure not much help but if they ask ill send new ones they come back realllllllllly fast!

Agreed. Within 1-2 weeks, we were shocked at how fast they were compared to the FBI one.
