Hey

As a US passport holder, does Canada impose any kind of six month validity rule on passports when entering Canada? I realized my passport is expiring a few weeks after a trip from the US. I'd prefer do my renewal once I get back to Canada, as it makes me nervous to send off a passport for renewal just before a trip. I know in some cases with certain countries you have to have 6 months validity left on a passport, but don't seem to be able to find anything about US passports coming into Canada.

Thanks!

1. No, Canada doesn't have a 3 or 6 months rule, but will only admit to the date of the expiry of the passport.

It would be helpful if you actually stated your status in Canada instead of just stating you hold a US passport.

If you are a PR, then your passport expiring after you enter Canada doesn't matter.

If you are entering as a temporary resident, then as said above, CBSA will only admit you for as long as your passport is valid.

Sorry, permanent resident of Canada.
