- Your friend needs to make sure he declares this overstay in his Canadian WP application or he can expect to face a 5 year misrepresentation ban from Canada. The US and Canada share immigration information.
- I assume your friend has left the US and is back in his home country. If your friend is still in the US and out of status, the application won't be approved.
- Your friend will need to show strong ties to his home country to be approved given his immigration history in the US. Hopefully he returned to his home country and lived there for some time before applying for the Canadian WP.
