I am a Canadian PR with the card valid till end of 2026 and I've to add another 18 months residency in Canada to submit my citizenship application.
In the mean time, I've received my US green card and moved to US in the mid 2022. I am planning to apply 2 year re-entry permit here in US some time in 2023-2024 and plan to move to Canada for 18 months and submit my citizenship application. I prefer US re-entry permit over commuter status because of two reasons 1.Still possible to use the period for US citizenship requirements later if I visit US every six months once 2.Family members won't get commuter status if they don't work for US employer
I have ties in both countries so working towards duel citizenship. Please share your experience if anyone is planning or going through this process. Thanks.
