Right, but what I meant was would the agent let me stay, even after providing proof of marriage, to stay for the duration of the time that it takes to process my application?

Also, would sending my application in a binder and make it like a book be acceptable? What are the rules as to sending the application?

PS: Have any US Citizens had any problems extending their visitor stay in Canada for more than 6 months? (those who arrivied in Canada by plane, not car because I hear that car is a little easier to be approved for 6 months) Which brings me to my last point, have any US Citizens had any difficulty being granted a 6month visitor permit on their when they first arrived in Canada?

Thanks you all, every one!!!

Its easier either way to get the 6 month stamp for US citizens and no just reply for the extension one month before your 6 month expires so your not out of status ok.

It is usually advised for non-visa required visitors to not announce they want to stay for 6 months. My plan of action, for example, is to fly in with a return ticket for 2 weeks and wait for the application. If it gets close to the 6-month sticky area, I will apply for a visitor extention. I have no experience of this, mind you, but I have heard of this route many times.

The binder is a definite no, they make mention of this (no binders, albums, etc). Your best bet is paperclips or bulldog clips and folders if necessary! They have their own filing system.
