So my husband is from AB and is desperately wanting our child born in Calgary, AB. I am willing to enter under a visitors visa and NOT work since we will be staying rent free with his parents. He can work which he is okay with. My question is would i be covered under health care for the birth costs? i will have to have a c section. Also is it true i have to be in the country a certain time frame before birth/after birth to qualify? i cant seem to find any solid info on this online anywhere. Thanks for the hep in advance.

It's my understanding that because Alberta's health care system is so lenient, you are eligible as long as your spouse is already signed up for the healthcare and you have a TRV/visitor visa/visitor record you can bring to show you will be in Alberta for at least six months. There are TONS of threads about this in this family class forum, try using the search feature for "AHCIP".

The only weird thing is that AHCIP site says you must intend to live in AB for 12 consecutive months
