This is a little complicated I'm sorry, but maybe someone can give advice and answer some questions?

I'm a US citizen, my boyfriend is a Canadian PR (originally from India).
I entered Canada on December 10 2017 on the 6 month implied US tourist visa thing.
Six months later (Jun 2018? don't remember) I applied for a 6 month extension with the purpose of starting PR paperwork (common law sponsorship via bf) after that. The visa was approved and expires Dec 10 2018.

Now here's my problem,

Bf just lost his job and while we have enough to live on just fine while he does the job hunt, I don't think we have enough in the bank to do the whole PR sponsorship thing right now. Soooo,

1. Can I apply for another 6 month visitor Visa?

2. If I can, how much would I have to show in the bank for that? And what do I say? "We need another 6 months for.....?"

3. What would happen if I just overstayed my current visa and applied for PR (or another visitor visa) a month later? (Jan 2019)

4. Can I take a bus or plane to the US and just come back in on another nothing-visa? If so, which mode would be better? How do I show ties to the US? Do I need to?

I am so confused and starting to get nervous. I hope someone can help!
Thanks

As long as he is not on welfare/not bankrupt, he can file your PR application. But, you can apply for PR only if you are common-law (which you are not unless you've lived together for at least 12 continuous months), or if you get married.

As a US citizen, you cannot apply for a TRV. You can apply to extend your visitor status again by mentioning you are working towards common-law.

Your finances + your boyfriend's finances.

Don't try to circumvent the immigration rules. It can do more harm than you think.

Do apply to extend your current visitor status
