I'm from Egypt, Urgently, I have applied for study permit from 6/6/2013 and until now i didn't receive any response from the embassy and I emailed embassy and told me that "there are waiting for background checks". please can any one tell me what this is meaning and when can i take the visa?

In background process they check your criminal records ,financial records etc
you have to wait
i dnt know about processing times of Egypt
please refer to cic website for timeline
 
i forgot to say that the processing time is 5 -7 weeks in Egypt, but due to the political issues we currently have the embassy closes every now and then
 
I have applied for study permit last week and applied to my wife for TRV , We have applied online .
i have heard after application that online application is only open for designated countries in which Egypt is not one of them.
is it true ???
